Postdoctoral Fellow in RNA Therapeutics for Cardiac Regeneration
Location: Maastricht University, the Netherlands
Duration: 3 years | Full-time |

We are inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow to join a cutting-edge biomedical research project focused on innovative RNA-based therapeutics for ischemic heart disease.

Project Summary:
Ischemic heart disease remains the leading cause of death worldwide. There is a critical need for novel therapeutic strategies that go beyond symptom management and aim at endogenous cardiac regeneration. This project aims to develop and evaluate new delivery technologies for regenerative RNA molecules to stimulate cardiomyocyte proliferation. The central focus of this position will be to compare the efficacy of neutral lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) and next-generation adeno-associated viral vectors (AAVs)

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and perform experiments for cardiac RNA delivery using LNP and AAV-based delivery systems
• Analyze RNA uptake, biodistribution, and regenerative effects in cardiac models
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including molecular biologists, cardiologists, and nanotechnology experts
• Publish findings in high-impact journals and present at international conferences

Requirements:

• PhD in Biomedical Sciences, Molecular Biology, Pharmacology, Bioengineering, or related field
• Hands-on experience with RNA therapeutics, nanoparticle or viral vector design, and/or familiarity with hiPSC-derived models of cardiac disease is a strong advantage
• Strong publication record and excellent written/oral communication skills
• Team-oriented mindset with a proactive and independent work ethic
